How much coffee should you buy per month?

Worried about running out of the black gold and having to buy sub-par coffee?

A question we get asked a lot is: how much coffee should I order every month if I don’t want to run out?

Obviously, this varies depending on how much you drink. However, we can give you some guidance and a few options to make life a bit easier (and cheaper too).

Generally, most coffees taste best at around 16–18g of coffee per serving, which provides a sufficient amount for proper extraction. You should also consider small losses from spillage, the grinder, and the machine itself.

How Many Brews Do You Drink Per Day?

If you drink one coffee per day and multiply that by 18g, you’ll get a good idea of your own consumption. Then simply add a bit extra for guests — and those days when one just doesn’t cut it.

We’ve created this simple table to help you decide which tier you sit in:

The Cost of Running Out of Artisan Coffee

You can usually pick up a bag of standard Italian dark roast for £4–£8 at your local shop or supermarket, so it’s not necessarily a big financial loss. However, the true cost of running out of freshly roasted light-to-medium beans is in the flavour.

Plus, you miss out on loyalty points — and you might even overcompensate next time you order!
