Uganda Ibanda

Ibanda is a village tucked into one of those storybook valleys where mountains, mist and sunlight all seem to be competing for who can look most dramatic. Here, farmers tend one or two acres apiece — modest plots overflowing with pride, skill and ripe, ruby-red cherries.

Agri Evolve’s Field Officers sweep through the hillsides like caffeinated shepherds, nudging growers toward ever better practices: careful pruning, patient picking, and a zero-tolerance policy toward underripe cherries (quite right too). During harvest, farmers bring in baskets of glistening red fruit to the local buying centre run by the indefatigable Salastial Masereka, who weighs, grades and pays in cash on the spot — no nonsense, no delay.

From there, the cherries embark on a small adventure to the Nyabirongo processing station. They’re floated (the coffee equivalent of a spa day), graded, and laid out on raised beds to bask in the Ugandan sun. Teams turn them constantly — the slow, deliberate choreography that transforms fresh fruit into something beautifully sweet, clean and complex.

The result? An SCA 84 natural that tastes like the Rwenzoris are showing off: sweet, fruity, bright and wonderfully structured, like a fruit salad composed by a poet with excellent knife skills.

DPD NEXT-DAY DELIVERY

Orders over 2.5kg are sent via DPD Courier, and your confirmation email will let you know if this applies to your order. Orders placed with DPD before 8:30 am go on a Next Day Delivery service; this doesn't include weekends, so anything dispatched on a Friday will arrive the following Monday.

This option excludes Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands.

For those local to York, we have free local collection points across the city, which we deliver to on Wednesday and Friday mornings. Orders placed from Friday to Tuesday will be delivered to your chosen collection point on Wednesday morning. You'll be notified by email when your order is ready. Available to collect from the York Coffee Emporium roastery any time between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm during the week, once you've received your shipping email.

The Bar Convent Heritage Centre – Blossom Street, York

Available to collect from the Bar Convent cafe between 8:00 am and 3:30 pm on Wednesday or Friday, after you receive your shipping email. The cafe is closed on Sundays and bank holidays.

The Greengrocer of Acomb – Acomb, York

Available to collect from the Greengrocer during opening hours on the Friday after you receive your shipping email. The store isn't open on Wednesdays.

Brew'd – Designer Outlet York

Available to collect from the cafe 8.30 am - 8 pm everyday except Sundays, when opening times are 9 am till 6 pm.

You'll have one week to collect your order from your chosen location. Any unclaimed orders will be returned to the York Coffee Emporium roastery for collection once this period has elapsed.
