Colombia Sugarcane Decaf

In Colombia, small-scale farmers handpick, depulp, ferment, and sun-dry their coffee with care. The beans then undergo a natural decaffeination process using sugarcane-derived ethyl acetate and spring water. This gentle method preserves the coffee’s full flavour, creating a 99.9% caffeine-free cup bursting with Colombian character.

Farmers and Community:

95% of the coffee in this region comes from small producers who live and work in farms of 5 hectares in size or less. Coffee is handpicked, depulped using traditional machinery and fermented in tanks before being washed and laid out to sun dry.

Processing:

Once the coffee is sourced, Colsuaves works with Descafecol, to have the beans decaffeinated. Descafecol uses a natural decaffeination process which combines high mountain spring water and Ethyl Acetate (EA) of natural origin. This natural EA, obtained from sugar cane, together with spring water, are the only elements used in the process. This water-EA process allows for the gentle extraction of caffeine from the beans, avoiding excessive heat or pressure, while maintaining their natural structure. The result: Colombian coffee with all its desirable characteristics, that is 99.9% caffeine-free.

Hand roasted and ground to order. Orders placed after 8:30 am are dispatched the next working day, and you'll receive an email as soon as yours is on its way. If anything is ever delayed, which can occasionally happen with certain artisan coffees and equipment, we'll let you know straight away and keep you updated.

DPD NEXT-DAY DELIVERY

Orders over 2.5kg are sent via DPD Courier, and your confirmation email will let you know if this applies to your order. Orders placed with DPD before 8:30 am go on a Next Day Delivery service; this doesn't include weekends, so anything dispatched on a Friday will arrive the following Monday.

This option excludes Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands.

For those local to York, we have free local collection points across the city, which we deliver to on Wednesday and Friday mornings. Orders placed from Friday to Tuesday will be delivered to your chosen collection point on Wednesday morning. You'll be notified by email when your order is ready. Available to collect from the York Coffee Emporium roastery any time between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm during the week, once you've received your shipping email.

The Bar Convent Heritage Centre – Blossom Street, York

Available to collect from the Bar Convent cafe between 8:00 am and 3:30 pm on Wednesday or Friday, after you receive your shipping email. The cafe is closed on Sundays and bank holidays.

The Greengrocer of Acomb – Acomb, York

Available to collect from the Greengrocer during opening hours on the Friday after you receive your shipping email. The store isn't open on Wednesdays.

Brew'd – Designer Outlet York

Available to collect from the cafe 8.30 am - 8 pm everyday except Sundays, when opening times are 9 am till 6 pm.

You'll have one week to collect your order from your chosen location. Any unclaimed orders will be returned to the York Coffee Emporium roastery for collection once this period has elapsed.
