Zambia Marsellesa

Zambia Marsellesa is grown at Mount Sunzu Estate in Mbala, in the far north of the country near the Tanzanian border. Sitting at 1,600 metres above sea level, the estate benefits from cool highland air, fertile soils, and a climate perfectly suited to slow, even coffee ripening.

The farm spans 115 hectares of coffee, with plans to expand by a further 35 hectares, and is surrounded by over 600 hectares of reforested native Miombo woodland. Marsellesa, a rust-resistant varietal known for its balanced cup profile, thrives here under careful cultivation. Processing takes place entirely on-site, from selective handpicking to 30 days of slow drying on raised beds, ensuring full quality control at every stage.

Processing:
This coffee was processed on-site at Mount Sunzu’s own wet and dry mill. After selective handpicking, ripe cherries were floated to remove defects before being spread on raised drying beds for 30 days, covered at night and during rain. Once dried, the coffee was hulled, graded, hand-winnowed, and sorted in Mount Sunzu’s dry processing facilities.

Farmers and Community:
Mount Sunzu is located in Mbala, Zambia, at the foot of the country’s highest mountain. The estate spans 115 hectares dedicated to coffee cultivation, with an additional 35 hectares set for development by 2025. The remaining 600 hectares are actively reforested with native Miombo forest, balancing conservation with agriculture.

The farm is equipped with its own washing station and dry mill, and can process coffee using natural, honey, and fully washed methods. Drying facilities feature raised beds, and a solar-powered irrigation system supports sustainable water use. In addition to coffee, the farm operates beekeeping projects to promote biodiversity and provide income diversification for the community.

DPD NEXT-DAY DELIVERY

Orders over 2.5kg are sent via DPD Courier, and your confirmation email will let you know if this applies to your order. Orders placed with DPD before 8:30 am go on a Next Day Delivery service; this doesn't include weekends, so anything dispatched on a Friday will arrive the following Monday.

This option excludes Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands.

For those local to York, we have free local collection points across the city, which we deliver to on Wednesday and Friday mornings. Orders placed from Friday to Tuesday will be delivered to your chosen collection point on Wednesday morning. You'll be notified by email when your order is ready. The Bar Convent Heritage Centre – Blossom Street, York

Available to collect from the Bar Convent cafe between 8:00 am and 3:30 pm on Wednesday or Friday, after you receive your shipping email. The cafe is closed on Sundays and bank holidays.

The Greengrocer of Acomb – Acomb, York

Available to collect from the Greengrocer during opening hours on the Friday after you receive your shipping email. The store isn't open on Wednesdays.

Brew'd – Designer Outlet York

Available to collect from the cafe 8.30 am - 8 pm everyday except Sundays, when opening times are 9 am till 6 pm.

You'll have one week to collect your order from your chosen location. Any unclaimed orders will be returned to the York Coffee Emporium roastery for collection once this period has elapsed.
