At the end of 2016, our supplier launched a project in the Copan region of Honduras, in collaboration with a small co-op – Aruco – where they supplied training, technical support and expertise. The project was focused on producing high quality microlots at a centralised mill, giving small producers access to specialty markets and quality price premiums. 25 small producers, with farms ranging in size between 1 and 5 hectares, were supported in the production of coffee microlots.
Honduras is a Central American country with Caribbean Sea coastlines to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. In the tropical rainforest near Guatemala, the ancient Mayan ceremonial site Copán has stone-carved hieroglyphics and stelae, tall stone monuments
Our coffees are ethically sourced from green coffee buyers who are committed to excellent coffee, excellent standards and paying their farmers an excellent price. We source, roast, blend and pack the coffee ourselves, to ensure that the coffee makes as few journeys as possible once it has left the farm.
