A York Emporium classic, the Ethiopian Rocko Mountain coffee is a fantastic example of the unique and sophisticated flavours of Naturally Processed Ethiopian Coffees.
This coffee won us our first Great Taste Award, meaning it holds a special place in our hearts. Its return to our Roastery doors was one we are very excited about.
More so, its previous success with us gave additional importance in ensuring its return was of the the highest quality and we firmly believe it has met the high standards set previously.
The flavour profile is an excellent representation of the old school traditional flavour that comes out of the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia. You can expect to enjoy a coffee full of flavour comprising of a sharp Peach like acidity, sweet Strawberry and Red Berry notes and a smooth Dark Chocolate finish. Floral Jasmine notes are a pleasant addition as they help soften off this bright and vibrant cup
Tariku Mengesha is the solely owner and produced this natural coffee entirely on his farms, the farm is located throughout the Banko Chelchele kebele (neighbourhood) of Gedeb woreda, south of Yirgacheffe and just west of the bulgy border with the vast Oromia region.
Tariku applied the basic agronomic practices and keep the field free of any weeds, grows pulse crops in his coffee field so as to maintain the fertility of the soil.
Also does the pruning practices with the technical help from Technoserve and district Agricultural experts.
This lot has been processed as a traditional Natural process, first by soaking the cherries to remove all immature, floaters, overripe and foreign matters and than drying on raised beds for 28 days.
